No Audio through iPhone 4S 6FL option only
Did some extensive searching on the forums and couldn't find a particular instance which would be directly applicable to my problem.
I have option 6FL (USB in console) but not 6NF (Music). Does this mean I can't control my iPhone from the console USB connection? Also, When connecting my iPhone to the the USB and trying to access it through iDrive it says not supported. Reason I'm asking is because I'm wanting the cradle for my phone (I don't believe I'm going to upgrade to the iPhone 5 anytime soon), so... the way I'm looking at it, the only options I have is to either get the y-cable to be able to play music through my iPhone and forgo the cradle, or get the cradle and forgo the music. Am I correct? |

on my build sheet it says I have 6FL and I have no issues with using my iphone thru iDrive. Once plugged in you cannot choose your songs from your iphone, you must choose from Idrive. BTW I use the regular ol white apple cable, not bmw's y-cable

I'm still learning all this 6FL 6NR 6NF crap, not all 2011's are created the same, your car was probably built prior to dec2010 meaning you do not have the combox meaning you need that y-cable, my car was built after dec2010 so I do have the combox, its confusing as fawk

So does anyone have the "Phone Version" here? Wanting to know if it has the built in Y cable there, or only the USB cable. I still want to be able to play music through my phone and have a cradle.
From Tischer: Phone version (requires base plate) snap-in adapters provide: Charging of the device Secure and stable docking location Vehicle specific mount Improved reception by connecting to the vehicles external antenna Music version (vehicles up to 9/2010, requires option 6NF) adds: Integrated USB connection which negates the need for a separate audio cable Access to the music tracks stored on the Smartphone Media version (vehicles from 9/2010 and on, requires 6NF or 6NR) includes the same as Music version and adds: Display of "cover art". With "cover art", the applicable song's original album cover will be displayed on the central information display. For vehicles equipped w/ BMW Apps (SA 6NR), this adapter allows the full functionality of the option, including 'video playback' and the 'plugin' feature. |
