550i spec - about to order...anything I'm missing?

Hi Everyone,

I'm about to order a 550i (I'm just going to take a 535d for a test-drive for completeness...but my heart is saying 550i).

This is the spec I've been asked for a quote on :

M Sport Package
Exclusive Package (Automatic tailgate, adaptive headlights, high beam assist)
Adaptive Drive
Surround View
Active seat for driver and front passenger
Seat heating for driver and front passenger
Soft close doors
Apps
BMW Live
Music interface for smartphones
Active protection
Active cruise control with Stop & Go
BMW Night Vision
Lane Change
Lane Departure
Bang and Olufsen
M Rear spoiler

Anything important that I'm missing? Anything that I've added that is a waste?

Thanks!

M.

I think Night Vision is a waste, I dont know where you live in South Africa so it might be useful for you with dimly lit roads etc. Brights work for me though. Other then that your car is pretty much fully loaded. I'd replace the Night Vision with the HUD. Although I dont think thats necessary either....its a cool little gizmo. More useful than night vision I think.

I would def consider Alcantara headlining, it really ads luxuriousness to the boot..

Go for the sport transmission. Faster shifts, paddle shifters and the leather shifter boot.

Definitely doing HUD. I think it is standard on the 550i but need to confirm. There are some pretty dodgy B roads so need to look into those.

Does anyone use Active Steer? Any opinions on whether it is worth it?

Not so sure what your criteria is...your other post is contemplating an M5 which suggest you might be interested in performance in a big way. The options listed, after the first 4, speak very much to luxury and comfort. You choice but try to drive a demo with those features to see if they are worth it to you.
One favorite option with many enthusiast that I don't see listed on your order (unless its packaged into something else for your market region) is the Dynamic Handling Package (DHP) with specific anti roll stabilization and dynamic dampner control. For me and other driving enthusiast, THAT would be the one option on the top of the list....drive one thoroughly and you'll see. Just don't let an uninformed salesman dismiss that option as "just some electronic handling aids". It is much more worthwhile than say, the lane departure, night vision, active cruise...etc.
2nd option is BMW's excellent navigation system. Try it, you'll see.

Thumbs up Other little important things

If you are a non smoker, remove smokers pack (takes too much space up )
Add Sun Protection Glass
Add Electric side mirrors

Agree 100% with sport auto, a dream.
Add cigar lighter slot at rear for cooler box in boot

Otherwise you have it all

Most demo's don't have those type of options. I'm interested in performance (but the 550i is enough car for me) but also definitely in comfort as it will be my daily ride. School runs and the like...

So yeah, want the power but don't want to sacrifice the comforts.
