Just dropped my car off at the dealership. Making really loud knocking noises and throwing all sorts of errors on iDrive. My tech already estimated it could be rod bearing related. It's still under CPO warranty; I'm hoping to get a new motor out of it.

Regardless of what happens, it'll be for sale after I get it back as I'll be searching for a new, winter friendly daily car (SUV most likely).

I'll keep everyone posted this is the 4th dealer visit in my short 2 months of ownership lol. On the bright side I get to drive my M6 more

Yessir. I love the car to death. Might look at an N63Tu but I just got a fat raise and am making a substantially higher amount of money at work. I'm test driving GTRs and R8s in town and might be looking at DDing one of those.

I just had my N63 motor replaced last month as well. It's becoming a trend. There's about 4 others on here with bearing issues.

Just got a call from my SA. A very awesome call! They ordered me a brand new motor and are also going to replace the turbos.

All for a measly $50 copay haha. Cannot wait to get it next week

I'm still considering selling it only because I really want a GT-R. I'll gladly sell it with everything on it for what I bought it for; $26,500. You'll get a brand new engine and turbos!

You should keep it. With new motor and turbos, the car will easily go another 100k miles. Especially since you'll most likely be getting the BMW crate N63B44A, which has updated timing chain, valve seals, bearings, etc.

But GT-R = Win too. Not sure about the reliability aspect though.

I hope. Car won't have a warranty after the CPO expires so I wouldn't want to take the chance. Especially since it's still a regular N63.

Bmw parts automatically have a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. But yeah after the 2 year warranty is up on the engine, I'm getting out of the N63. Most likely my last BMW, to be honest. This is the 2nd one I've owned with bearing issues, I'm sure you're familiar with the S85 issues. My E60 M5 had plenty.

My SA said they stopped doing the 2 year unlimited mile warranty. So that's why I want to sell. My M6 has been great to me. Only problem was a broken pressure plate ($200) and a thermostat ($500, billed to warranty). So if anything I'd daily that thing but my eyes are still fixed on an exotic. The multiple car ownership fun has worn off already lol

oooh...between your 550 and a GTR?! that's a hard choice depending how you are financially cause i looked into a GTR and nothing's cheap for that car

I'm spending a bit extra to have a factory warranty. Looking at 2015+ models with remainder of factory warranty so I can purchase the 6 year extended warranty. Nice thing about GTRs is they barely go down in value. Buy a 2014/2015 for $70k, drive it for two years and sell it for $68k. Owners of brand new early models never lost anything.

44,000 lol. I have a glovebox full of warranty claims and maintenance done on the car so my car was meticulously maintained. Glad I settled for CPO

Update! Still waiting on the dealer to call me. Last week they said it would be today most likely, so I'm hoping for the best. I want to order a carbon fiber M5 style diffuser, install my grills and carbon fiber mirrors, and get the stock ///M sport wheels back on once I get them done up in gloss black.

Still on the fence about selling the car. Probably will lose money because of the new engine.
