N55 Intake Similar to 550 and M5
Any chance we will ever see an intake design with the filter behind the kidney grille like the designs for the 550 and M5? I currently have the BMS intake, and while I'm sure it adds a few hp, and I can faintly hear my turbo spool now, I miss the "whoosh" of a true cold air intake like I had on previous cars.

The sound you miss is an intake resonance, and it is quashed by the turbocharger compressing the intake charge. Changing the filter design isn't going to get you that noise from an NA engine.

But I have watched videos of intake systems on 550's and they have that loud intake induction sound. Maybe I didn't choose the best word, but I am just looking for more of an intake noise.

Yes, exactly. Does the layout of the N55 engine prevent routing of an intake tube and filter to a location behind the kidney grilles?

The stock intake has the intake tube routed behind the grills....
Putting a filter in there though isn't the best idea. Its not an easy area to service a filter, nor do you really want the filter directly in the line of road debris, water, whatever else. |
