Recall - Airbag?

Just picked up the new M5 on 23rd Dec and had a call today from the dealer asking for me to let them have it for a day due to a recall. Apparently there is an issue with the air bag unit, not sure which one but think it is the drivers steering wheel.

Anyone know anything about this?

They called and said it was not urgent and I asked about a courtesy car and they said they did not have one until first week in Feb so I said ok - they then said that was too far off and wanted my car in sooner so I asked what it was for.

They then said it was for the air bag and a fault that if the car was in an accident the air bag might not go off so I pushed them and eventually they said how about next Monday!!

So going from no courtesy car until Feb to how about 4 days time, so we agreed on 23rd Jan and yes it better not be a Mini or a One series lol

I can't see anything at all on the VOSA web page. http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/apps/recalls/default.asp

Could you ask them for a recall number as given by VOSA ? Should be R/(year)/number, for example R/2016/046

Just called them and they gave me this number 0072780100 and said that it is a fault with an igniter in the air bag that may be faulty - sorry that was all they had

Respectfully, stop being precious and get the car sorted out ASAP on this important safety feature and accept whatever BMW courtesy car they give you for the day.
