The body panel line between the hood and front fascia makes the design look cheap to me (like a Chrysler 300). And the bumper is just too tall and flat-faced; it looks like they were moving the clay model around the design studio and accidently smushed the nose against a wall and said "hey, that looks really good, let's keep it!" I've always liked the short overhang/blunt-nosed look of the 80's BMWs especially the E30, but those cars had character lines (non-integrated bumpers, non-aero headlights, etc.) which broke up the smoothness of the face; I think BMW tried to capture that design again, but it just doesn't look right.

The rest of the body looks like typically good BMW design, and the interior is just gorgeous.

Now if I could just muster up the nads to buy the M3 sedan they had next to it...
You can thank the new EU pedestrian safety standards for that !

Do you have more pics of the interior (screen, steering wheel, etc.)? Also, the "scrolling wheel" on the steering wheel has been in American cars for a while, especially GM.
Audi's had the scrolling wheel for years now, but even so, it's nice that bmw finally added it.

Speaking of cup holders, if you don't get the comfort access, you have to insert the key fob in between the cupholders... kinda weird, but i imagine most will have the comfort key.

Congrats!
Is your cup holder set up differently?
Looks smaller than in the OP's pics..... Is the console different?

Yeah, MT console has one cup holder behind the iDrive controller. The space between the shifter and the dash is a small storage cubby (ashtray). On AT cars, there are 2 cup holders between the shifter and the dash and the ashtray is behind the iDrive controller. I'm guessing it's different because of space issues of the MT linkage.

Haha, thats hilarious... I've been getting that since I was 16 years old... But I really can't see the resemblance from that pic alone

Maybe I should start asking my parents some serious questions

I spent a week with the 530d and a week with the 550i. Great cars.

My review is excerpted and linked below.

They should have kept the old taillights. These taillights look like the ones on the g35\g37

Geat Pics..funny how they put only single piston front brakes on the 550i, considering it's power and weight.

They do that on the M3's as well if I'm not mistaken. It is an oddity but I believe it does save lots of $$$. And hopefully we will see that when we eventually DIY our own brakes. Though years ago we were wondering about the 135......

Pictures don't do this car justice. I was sorta ho hum about it until I saw a black in person up at Laguna Seca a few weekends back at the ALMS race. Sexy beast! Much bigger/longer in person too than the pix show.

26 years old and i'm still considered a "boy"... lol, sure i'll take it... but between us i've had my license for 10 years and owned various bimmers driving them over 700,000kms combined with lead footed montreal enthusiasm... does that qualify for a permit down in texas?
