Climate Smell
Driving 2011 BMW 535.
It was little warmer yesterday around 60F. I am not sure what is causing the problem but it only happens on warmer days Every time I turn on my climate on with or without the a/c I get this bad smell that is hard to describe but it smells like some type of chemical or medicine. It's not moldy smell and only lasts for like a minute or 2. It goes away until I start my car again. I never get the smell when is 50F or colder outside. I also do try to run the a/c during winter at least once a week but like i mention before smell comes out with or without the a/c. |

I have a similar issue, when the AC turns on. I had the dealer swap out the filters and they deoderized it. I'm pretty sure it's the AC coil and it's probably moldy

I have sprayed Lysol down the intake grill. There are also commercial sprays that should help. Pull your cabin filter and spray in there with the fan running. This should also help.
Good luck! Tasmanian |

What does that mean? You should always set the system on Auto which automatically turns on/off the "AC". Just control the temp and let the car figure out what to do. I've never had this moldy smell
