Hi guys. New f10 owner here. Still have an e93 but sold my e90 daily driver to upgrade to an f10 535. I want to code a few things, but when I use the cable it says it wont work. It tells me to get a wifi adapter? Is there an option aside the 70 dollar Carly adapter? Is there. Way to make the cable work?

Coding can be done with free ESys software and a $20 cable (cheaper if you build it yourself). Check the coding section.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to look more into it. I have Carly so I figured it was the easy simple "coding for dummies" version so I just wanted to get an adapter to make my life easy.

I have Carly for yrs now. Make sure you buy the Generation 2 obd WiFi adapter, so you'll be able to access all the updates & all 10 code-able ecu's. There was a update last week which opened up 10 for me, maybe you'll have more.

Carly is simple n quick, make sure you put phone in Airplay mode then connect. Don't want someone or something interrupting a coding session. If you have NBT pay to unlock the iDrive feature, there's some goodies there.

It's annoying that u buy the software. And you need an adapter after the fact for a newer car. It's totally on purpose but whatever. If I buy the stupid adapter is it backwards compatible meaning will it work on my e93?

And, is gen2 Carly the black one that's a little bit longer vs that short white dongle? Lastly I have an Android.....just want to make sure I get the right one.
