Magnaflow catback installed...

Sorry guys, no sound clips yet, but be patient.

I love the way this set up sounds on our 535i; to me it sounds just like it should have sounded from the factory. Especially as an "M sport;" it definitely gives you more of a thrill at WOT on the freeway as it effortlessly goes through all 8 gears.

The problem: My wife hates it.

Since the X5M is my daily driver, the 535i is hers. She says she can't stand the sound, how loud it sounds when shifting, etc. Basically she hates all the stuff I like about it. So there's no changing her mind; despite my efforts using a db app to show her it's quieter than my X5M that she LOVES.

What's worse is that she compared the sound to a "rice rocket" but I don't think she quite knows that even is! Lol! Trust me, this system is super mellow and very conservative in sound (cold start is obviously louder).

Question: Would a custom cross over pipe quiet it down that much more? Is it worth the hassle or should I just throw the stockers back on?

Thanks in advance bimmerpost brothers!

Magnaflow = Drowning so I would waste any time and money trying to fix it.

Just throw the stocks back on. Happy wife happy life

Wise words and thanks for the advice, I couldn't agree more! Lol

But as for the drowning, I never minded it in any of my vehicles...but, I guess it's back to stock for her! Haha

Hi there,
I had AFE catback installed on my 535 3 days ago after not being able to wait 6 months for meisteschaft. However when cruising 60-70-80 miles/hour it gets loud. Does the same apply AFE = Drowning. Paid $2000 for the system. Please advice

I spoke to the AFE guys at Bimmerfest and they claimed their system had no drone.

You might want to give them a ring.

Do you know anything about AFE ECU scorcher tuning?
