Do you have aftermarket Down Pipes and had the N63 CCP done?
So I went in to the dealer to have the car inspected for the N63 CCP.
They said they ordered the parts that are needed but didn't really tell me which items were ordered. I will be contacted once the parts are in to bring the car back. I have Active Autowerke down pipes. They said in order to change the vacuum pump they will have to remove my down pipes and will charge me for $900+ for it! Supposedly the shape of the aftermarket down pipes doesn't allow easy access to the vacuum pump. I don't know if this is BS but there's no way in hell I'm paying $900+ to remove and install my down pipes. I have 2 options. 1. I tell them to skip the vacuum pump. 2. Raise hell with the right contact and have them complete it. Anyone had the CCP done with aftermarket down pipes? Any suggestions on what I could do? Would contacting BMW NA help? Thanks! |

I sorta of say BS just because I've got my car apart right now. The factory passenger downpipe doesn't go behind the pump at all. I would think aftermarket pipes would actually give you more room.
Here's a shot of the VP minus the factory downpipe (my cars current state). You can see the firewall to pump clearance and nothing routes behind it. |

This is my first Bimmer and I'm not sure how to call their BS.
Anyone above a Service Advisor that I can speak to about this? Would it be worth calling BMW NA about it? |

I'll talk to a service manager and see if that helps. Quote:
If anything since they are catless downpipes (active autowerke) I would think they are smaller than the OEM ones. The parts came in today. I'm going to talk to the service manager on Monday and see what he can do. At the end of the day, if it wasn't for BMW having faulty parts, my down pipes wouldn't have to come off at all. It's their problem, I shouldn't have to pay for the inconvenience. I appreciate the help, I'll keep you posted. |

Good luck, my car goes in for CCP next week... Agree that you should definitely not be paying $900 to the dealer to re-install your dps...
I hope my car "feels" better after this, I haven't made it to a dyno or 1/4 mile, so don't have any hard perf #s. Sometimes the car feels fast, but there are many times when I feel like I'm missing something. |
