F10 Diesel Engine for 2014?
Previous posts alluded to a possible diesel F10 for MY 2014? But which one? 520d, 528d, or 535d? Wouldn't it be grand to have 40-50+ MPG in the various available F10 power ranges?! 550d anyone?

Yes I'd love the 550d but don't think it will happen soon for the F10. Much to all of our regrets! All that torque and hellafied mpg to boot!

Let's hope they don't bring the 520d here. It won't sell.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

USA bound 535d and 535d xDrive for 2014
You have to drill down to almost the end of this article about the F10 518d, but thankfully that's not the diesel model coming to the U.S. after F10 LCI changes and 2014 MY...

You don't fancy 60mpg while touring at 80mph, a real life 48 mixed fast driving. A range of 600 miles hard driven or 930 miles at a steady motorway cruise. 0-60 is adequate unless proving a point to boy -racers at the lights; you can always let them get to 50 mph then floor it as the 50 -80 beats most boy-racers. 135 mph is still rock solid and at this speed you spend most time looking out for patrol cars. Sound insulation is good, the toys can be specified to any level. Save on fuel, tax and purchase, pour the savings into extra toys. I am not sure if you have driven the 520d, you would be surprised with the performance. In the UK they are the biggest seller. Diesel is currently £6.00 per UK gallon or 12.5 pence per mile, Petrol is £5.93 and at 30mpg for a petrol engine it works out at 19.7 pence per mile. 7 pence X10,000 miles saves £700 per year. If you do 25mpg the saving is 11.7 pence per mile so over 10K £1,170. Added to these savings are the reduced purchase price (C. £3,000 between 520d and 530 petrol) and less road tax. I have only once seen a 535 petrol in the UK and have yet to spot a 550 despite my 25k travelled each year. Last edited by Farmerboy; 04-16-2013 at 02:37 PM..
