You can't go wrong with either a BMW or Audi - we have a mix of both in my household. My DD is the 550xi, and wife DD's a Q5, with the "fun car" being an R8 V10. I'll say, Audi seems to have retained a bit more "edge" in their upper-end models, where BMW has softened quite a bit to play to the luxury crowd.
BMW's electronics and innovation appears superior to me. However, Audi has remained a bit more "true" to the classic performance formula. The xDrive system on my 550xi is good, but I'll admit - Audi has been at the all wheel drive thing a lot longer. The A/S5 and 5-series are not comparable, however. Obviously not designed for the same target buyer. If you want the best luxury sports sedan, I'd stick with BMW (or consider MB if you want a little less sport). If you want a bit more sport and can deal with a bit less luxury, Audi may be the way to go.

Every mercedes and audi dealership I walked into, my only concern was to find a car that will provide me luxury + power. But I don't want to lease another 5 so I was exploring my options to what might be on a similar level. Maybe something else out there that is slightly bit better comparatively.

When you cross shop you will find that there is a LOT of value in the 5 lease, because BMW's in general have very good residuals, and BMWFS has pretty decent lease/loan rates.
Every time I price an Audi I get a silly monthly payment for a car that in my opinion is a step down. The Jag is a very nice car, a bit less common, but again, the lease price will make your eyes water. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you compare the cost to lease a 70K BMW vs a 70K jag or 70K Audi, the BMW lease payment will be considerably less money. Now consider you don't have to pay for service and you have yourself a sweet deal. I do understand things don't always come down to dollars and cents, so sometimes you have to do what you have to do. |
