They're supposed to be releasing an underseat subwoofer kit early next year

I have a US 2013 535i with standard audio. Is this what is referred to as "standard (hi fi) on BAVSOUND site?

Sounds like that's the case...

If you don't have tweeters & mids in your rear doors (which are part of the "premium top hi-fi" system), you need the 10 speaker upgrade.

I just completed the Bavsound upgrade in my f10 and I was very impressed with everything -the time it takes to do, the quality of the speakers, the sound improvement, even with the tool kit I got from BSW to do the installation myself.

Everything you need is included, and more. All of the tools are of good quality and the case is well made - great value for the price they charge. I've ordered from them before too and had great experiences.

The sound improvement is incredible and if they come out with subwoofer options for the f10, I'm in.

Overall, I love my Stage One kit and appreciate the improvement they've made to my "premium" OEM sound system. However, the factory subs immediately became the weak link once surrounded by an array of 14 high quality tweeters and midrange speakers, and I must admit I'm a bit disappointed it has taken this much time for them to release their subs for the F10. As originally detailed in my post above, I got the impression the F10 subs were in the final stages of development and would be hitting the retail market shortly thereafter.

Hopefully the good folks over at BAVSOUND will chime in and give us all an update?

And in response to BawstinMike, I can't say I've experienced a "clipping low end" with the factory subs. Rather, I would say they simply aren't up to task (in producing low frequency depth and punch) and are in a different league when compared to the soundstage improvements I've noticed with the Stage One speakers.

Hope this helps...

I've heard SWS-8's are a possible option to replace the factory subs.....

It's getting to the point here where any and all alternatives to the much anticipated BSW subs have to be considered. Thanks for the recommendations!

PDRF10 ....Great post man! I will probably get the bav sound speakers for the rear and put an amp on them as my stock hi-fi system does not have the 900W of your premium system. I think it's more like 205W max. LOL. Glad to know that you are happy with the BAVs

So the Bavs can handle more power than the factory amps? That would work if I decide to run aftermarket amps to push more power?

I put this kit in today. WOW! The tweeters are CRISP and the magnets on the midrange are 3 or 4 times the size.

They had a sale for 700.00 on this kit and worth EVERY penny! No distortion when stereo is cranked all the way up now. I would recommend you buy sound deadening material when you install and put it on the backside of the door panel. Really helps with the quality of the sound and elimination of road noise.

That's what everyone says but I need some bass So wondering if Bav can handle an aftermarket amp or has it reached it's limits on the factory system?

From my initial viewing of these speakers, I would say they are over engineered for the OEM BMW amp. Contact BavAudio and ask them. They are very knowledgable and have a quick response time for questions. VERY awesome company to deal with, carrying on the Dinan quality tradition. Everyone bitches about the cost of Dinan parts, but I just pulled a 2k muffler system off of my car and ordered a Dinan exhaust in for installation. The attention to detail on a Dinan part is amazing, and the attention to detail on BavAudio speakers is amazing.

Right down to the plugs, using color coded connectors so there are zero mistakes.

Sold my 2009 335i in which I installed the SWS 8's under the seats with a dedicated JL Audio XD amp. Huge improvement on the sub end but mids were lacking since it was really a sub and not a woofer.

Got a 2013 M3 Convertible a few weeks ago with the EPS OEM system. It's the top of the line stereo and sounds quite good but lacking sub frequencies and responsiveness into the 150hz range. This one is the next step up from the Logic7.

For my upgrade, I did this...

I got the JL Audio XD500/3 amp and will power a 10inch JL Audio sub that I have built a nice custom cabinet for within the ski pass-through since the trunk on the convertible isn't an option due to the roof taking up all the space and there is a ton of vibration unless you port the sub directly into the cabin which I did. I used Technic's (forum member) harness to make the install of the extra amp virtually plug and play. I also used the LC2i adapter which tabs the full range signal from the OEM speaker out (there is no dedicated out on those amps) and from the LC2i inti the new amp.

So everything is working great, strong sub responses with the 10inch and cut over the new amps two main channels from 80hz to 150hz into the OEM underseat woofers.

Here is where I need advice.

Is it worth upgrading the other speakers to the Bavsound Stage 1?
The woofers aren't very responsive with rapid bass and don't keep up with the punch timing of the 10inch sub. Any ideas on replacements for those two 8inches? My new amp can drive new ones between 2, 4 or 8 ohms.
Looked at the German Jehnnert but expensive and I have seen mixed reviews.

So, I got word from the folks over at BavSound that the F10 subs are done and going into production. Apparently they'll be releasing details in the next couple of weeks re: pre-orders, pricing, and delivery timeframes.

Hopefully they'll be worth the wait, are reasonably priced, and offer a "plug and play" boost in performance (for us non-rewire / supplemental amp types) that rivals the enjoyment I've experienced with their Stage One kit.

More to follow...

Good news
Just wonder if the new sub woofer need any amp to run....(my sys is only very basic one with no amp)

If yes
May be better to change for a HK sub woofer... I heard from some guys here HK are better than basic sub woofer...

Are we talking 8's under the seat or a ghost sub in the trunk somewhere?

I'm pretty sure they're continuing with the "plug and play" architecture and offering replacement units for our under-seat subs (their response to my email inquiry didn't mention design details).

But until they pull the cover off this long-awaited project, your guess is as good as mine...

Very good news. Hoping for a nice package deal for all drivers and subs.

Anyone know how difficult it will be to get to the under seat subs? Full seat removal?

U could probably run better subs than what Bav is gonna come out with? I've been doing a fair amount of research so to save trunk space I'm still figuring out what's the best shallow 8" subwoofers to run under the seat using MS-8 and an external amp for the sub.

You can create a much better system without bav altogether, but the plug and play factor and cost are tough to beat.
