Is "Self Parking" option a waste of upgrade?

We all know the advantage of the self parking feature. However, would it not be a good idea to pick this option based on this main disadvange:

1. If you find a tight spot and tried to squeeze in using the self parking assist, wouldn't it increase the chance of the car in front or in the back of your F10 to get out and may bump and damage your car when they try to leave since they are also in a tight squeeze because you lessen the available free space?

How ironic isn't it?

If you're parking challenged, it may help. I personally didn't want this option cause I consider myself proficient in this category, but the car I wanted with ventilated seats, comes with it, so I had no choice really. But after using it, I have to say it's a pleasant luxury feature.
I was at the beach at night, I had the car for a week, it was dark, on a hill in an area I was unfamiliar with, on a busy street. Instead of guessing, or getting out of the car to double check your work. The self parking option not only takes the guessing out of parallel parking, but more importantly saves your rims.
I have used it a couple more times and can tell you, it wont let you park in a super tight spot, but out of all the options I thought were extraneous, this one has been a pleasant surprise.

I would just take it to save my rims

I thought thatwhen you hit the curb, it usually hit the tires first and by that time you would be able to stop in time before the curb actually press against the rims.

I guess I had never had that happen to me before. Hmmm.

I never thought about the rims thing when I made the post.

On a 275/35 19 tires, there isn't much sidewall. Good when carving up canyons. Bad when carving up Costco.

thanks gatoman.

I found it in the brochure but it is not listed in the 550 configurator as a line item in the driver assist package though the other 3 features are listed. I like the blind spot detection, high beam detection and the lane departure somewhat so I may get that package anyway for $1350 but personally the self parking is not a feature that I am interested in.

I have self parking part of the package(ZDA) and only used it once and it worked great. The blind spot warning is worth what I paid for the whole package. Land departure is great on the highway, haven't tried the auto high beams yet.

My own personal thoughts in order of usefulness
Active Blind Spot Detection - Very helpful, but bright sunlight makes it hard to see sometimes
Parking Assistant - Helpful, especially if it's dark and raining, or you are in a place unfamiliar to you
Automatic high beams - Somewhat helpful, especially in less dense area, city lights, it's pointless.
Lane Departure Warning - Marginally helpful, pay attention to the road, and you'll be fine you multitasking maverick
