Normal and sport auto; the latter comes with steering wheel paddle shifters.

But is the box itself on the sport auto more sporty/quicker than the normal auto?

The consensus from previous posts on the subject indicates that the sport auto is quicker, but not having driven the both back to back, I can't comment.
However, it's one of the cheaper options and it'll pay dividends when you come to sell the car.

For some reason the additional cost for the sport auto is about £550 here.

That's exactly 5 X more than the £110 it costs in the UK. I heard that Norway was expensive, but that's somewhat extreme.

Yes, and this option is 150EUR in Germany.

But we only get a lot of tax on the base prise of the car, not the options.

Normally the options on the cars would be a little more expensive than in Germany or UK. So I don't know why this cost that much more here.

Wow, the option is $500 here in the States, I and still consider that a good deal. It's at least 1/3 cheaper than any other option offered on the car.

BTW, does anyone have comparison pictures of both the normal and sport auto gear selectors? I hear they're different in some way too...

There are two different Gear Lever designs. The one that comes with Sport is a little wider and has more leather on it. They function identical to each other, otherwise.

Also, the same eight speed transmission is used for regular and sport models. Shift points are different via programming.

Well, either way this is a fantastic gearbox. Blows away the 6-speed auto I had in my Lexus. And the sport auto is still refined enough for a luxury feel when you want it. Definitely worth the $$.
