Dr. Colorchip?

I keep seeing these ads for Dr.Colorchip and how unnoticeable this paint touch-up kit works. I just picked up a big chip from a rock on the freeway. I'm tempted to try on my truck before I try it on the Bimmer.

Have any of you guys tried this stuff and does it work as advertised?

They work much better on smaller tiny chips. If you chip is larger than a pin head you will need to do a few coats otherwise it won't blend in.

But does it look better than dabbing it with the applicator brush on the touch up paint tube?

I recently used this product. For the money it does a very good job. Will you see the “crater” were the rock chip was? Yes but only if you are looking very closely. From 2 ft away I can’t see where I touched it up. Its 3 times better then the touch up pens and for the money it works very well. Unless you repainted it I don’t think there is a better product or solution.

I used it on my Alpine white car, it did fill in the chip but obviously since no clear coat its not as glossy as the rest of the paint aroudn it but you would have to look right up to it to see the chip. My chip was deep, to the point where metal was showing and you can see it several feet away. Now you have to put your nose right on the hood to see where the chip was.

I broke down and bought a kit for my truck. It works great, but like it was said before, it needs a few coats to fill up the chip. It does a pretty good job and if I didn't know where the chip was I wouldn't notice it. It's the best thing out there as opposed to a repaint.

I had a black sapphire metalic paint on my last 535 and used the Dr. Colorchip product. I applied the product as specified and had several deep chips. I applied the clear coat also. In the end, I was not happy with the results. The metalic paint stood out next to the dull Dr. Colorchip repair. I eventually had a body shop do some work on the car to correct. That's only my experience, this product may work well with non metalic paints.
