Hello! Looking into an F10
So my ISF got totaled and ive been looking into a 2010 E63 AMG lately and i recently came across a 550i and love everything about it.
Couple questions I had is regarding reliability and if anyone has came into any major issues whil eowning one. Another questions is what packages do these things come with...im gettin pretty confused! im looking into a 2011 550I |

The 2011 - 2013 550's have had some issues with injectors, drivetrain malfunctions, etc. It's not a car you want to own outside of a warranty, so make sure you're getting it CPO as Siren says. They're good cars, but as you'd imagine, expensive to repair if not covered. I'd buy one over the MB... not a fan of the E-class.

Love my 2012, but did have a drivetrain malfunction in the first year. Also looked at the E63 AMG -- went with the F10 since I wanted x-drive and think it looks much better inside and out.
As far as packages go, I think it's really up to the individuals, however, all 550s come with just about everything you need. I went for the paddles and probably used them less than 10 times. I also got the drop down rear seats, which I also only used a few times, but really needed them. Good luck. |

I'd recommend looking at BMW's site to configure a 550. Granted, it'll be a 2014 configuration, and some of the options may have been included in different packages for a 2011 (or maybe not available at all - such as LED lights). However, it should at least give you a basic idea of what options exist, so you can determine what you feel is important. Then just look for those options (even if they're in different packages) when shopping for your car. Maybe there's an easier way, too - perhaps there's a 2011 options/packages list out there somewhere... maybe your BMW dealer could even provide it to you.

I would think most 550's have nice options on them already no?
AND! +1,000 on the CPO and/or Extended Warranty! The very first BMW I ever owned (2005 E60) was a CPO car. I kept having a transmission malfunction on my I-Drive so long story short… the dealer replaced the whole darn tranny. The repair bill for parts and labor and programming was close to $7,500! Of course I didn't have to pay a dime but you get the point. |
