Does this mean you should just go straight for the M5 26mm ones?
Are there any drawbacks, harshness, over speedbumps etc.?
The front end is definitely firmer. Whether or not this is a drawback will depend on driver preference. Personally, I like the tighter feel. Previously, the front end would be a bit loose. I typically go over speedbumps at extremely slow speeds, just habit, so can't really comment on that part

Honestly, this is a definite must. A relatively inexpensive suspension upgrade for drastic gains. You won't regret the change!

^Thanks.
Yeah the I6 seems to lean so much on weight transfer even on the 528i, I'm curious what size mine are now, probably 20-22mm.. too bad I'm not in your district, I would gladly take the 24mm off you hands.

I ordered the front M5 sway bar so I will let you know how it feel on the ruff HK roads.
Right now I am asking the price for the rear bar right now.

Remmib, when I searched a while back individually for each model, each one had a different one, there were at least 3-4 not including the M one..
Maybe there is a 550i out there with 520/528 skinny front ARBs

I think thats the same one on mine.. r u looking to go M, or lesser?

If I change, I'll get the M5 sway bar.

Thanks for the orders called in. I think we shipped out 4 bars just this week. Please let us know if you are interested. Best way to order the M5 front bar is to call the shop and talk to Logan.

925-426-1361. Price is $250 plus shipping for a limited time.

Joe, what's the skinny on the rear bar you are waiting on from Germany?

Thanks.

M5 Sway bar Purchased!

I ordered my M5 Sway bar a couple of days ago and Logan was awesome to work with and the total package cost to Chicago was great and under $300.
Thanks Ptech!

The 2mm increase in diameter from the Msport to M5 FSB, has a huge impact on handling, and the driving characteristics are pretty significant. Turn in is quicker, Bump transfer is more muted, and driving predictability is more accurate. The car just drives a lot better. Well worth the mod!!

You guys should definitely get this done. Forget the group buy, just get it, it definitely is a vast improvement!!
I measured my FSB on my m-sport 520d, and it was 24mm just as yours.

Since the M550d/650 rear bar is 16mm, shouldn't we just order the 650 bar from US dealer instead?

Joe, can you post the rear bar + mounting bushing price?
Thanks

The M5 part # is 31352284460

It comes with the bushings already mounted on the bar. You reuse your existing bolts and endlinks.

The install is a breeze. Once the underbelly pan is off there's only 6 bolts to remove the bar. You can do it easily yourself on ramps or let your shop do it. They should not take more then 20-30mins tops.

Alan
Hi Alan,

I read the whole thread but could not find this info : Does the M5 part come with a notice showing the needed bolt tightening torque values ?

Anyone any clue ?

No idea but stuff like this you can pretty much get the bolt as tight as possible with a normal hand ratchet.

Ok, then. I guess I can trust any service other than BMW to do this mod.

Thanks.

Thanks to Logan and Joe for excellent service and products.

I added the M5 front bar and the 550ix rear bar to my 2012 550i M-Sport and it reduced the body roll in the corners and generally gives the car a flatter attitude and better bite on the road. It also does not make the car look ghetto. Good mod!

We installed the rear bar successfully and then my car went to have a full vinyl wrap. So I haven't been able to drive it, but it installed fine. We went with the 16mm rear bar, up from the stock 14mm. Logan and I can help you source both bars or the rear if you already have the front. The rear and front bar combined take less than an hour to install. You'll need a lift, but it is very straight forward.
