Vorstiener front splitter

I tried searching the forums for a DIY on installing a Vorstiener front splitter/spoiler but cannot seem to find one. I would think that it would be easy, but did not want to take any chances.

Also has anyone painted a polyurethane splitter? Yes, I am considering one of the knock-offs on eBay. I don't like the carbon fiber look and want it to match the rest of my jet black car.

Are there any good DIYs out there for attaching a front splitter? I have heard that the 3M tape does nothing and screws should be used.

my real lip had some predrilled type holes on the bottom of the lip which I bought some screws from home depot and tapped into the bumper. I'll assume the fake ones will have something similar. one on each side and two towards the middle.

I did not paint my PU splitter as it's a matte black finish but I did you bolts/polyplene washers and nuts to hold it up. No double sided tape used except on the frint lip I'm probably gonna move it back 1.5"

Thanks for the words of wisdom. I did finally order it yesterday, so in a few weeks, weather permitting, I'll be able to provide some feedback.

Well, My splitter arrived yesterday. Doing a dry run, the fitment looks pretty good. It only has 2 screw holes/tabs on the ends, so I will need to figure out what to do for the middle. From other posts that I read, using 3M tape will not hold up to the down force generated when driving. Maybe some self tapping screws would do the trick. It does definitely need to be painted to get the right look, but I'm also considering vinyl wrapping it. The 3M gloss black that I used f the door handle inserts and side markers matches Jet Black pretty good. The vinyl may also give and added layer of protection if and when I bottom it out.

Thanks for the advice. In what locations did you drive the screws?

here are the screws and the locations, I did pilot hole everything aswell, my splitter also came with 4 or 5 tabs which I also drilled and screwed with the larger self tappers. the smaller screws were just overkill but ithought better safe than sorry.

no double sided tape or bond used at all. hope this helps.

Vorsteiner front splitter

Hi guys. Here are my two cents.

The splitter has 4 holes (see pics) that fit the bolts that hold the M Tech front bumper.

Never used the 3M tapes for my carbon fiber pieces (just don't trust the tape), applied a strong silicon sealant through the perimeter and contact areas. It works great holding the splitter firmly and securing the front, top and side edges from water, snow and dirt.

Bottom side of the splitter is 1/2 inch deeper than the screen and it is open backwards so it can breath and dry.
Conclusion: 4 existing bolts + silicon sealant. Splitter sits perfectly and firmly for 2 years of all-weather.

I'm rethinking my approach to vinyl wrapping my splitter as I cannot find the right amount of material. The 1 foot wide roll is the perfect width, but I can only find it in a maximum length of 5 feet which will not be enough. Any of the larger rolls will leve me with too much excess material.

Any idea on what it will cost me to have it sanded, primed and painted?

It doesn't hurt to have another 5 feet in extra length to be honest. Room for error which most likely will happen if this is your first time wrapping. Plus if you don't make any error you could possibly use it for interior trims if you wanted too. Regardless I would go with vinyl because it is a lot cheaper than painting it.

Just an update. The vinyl wrap attempt was an epic fail for me. I was a bit overconfident based on some smaller pieces that I wrapped. Next attempt will be to paint it.
