is this a good deal?

So I drive a 325i 2006 with almost 104000 miles on it. While browsing car inventories in the area I came across this 2010 535i with rounded up, 70000 miles. I love my 325i wish it was faster but knew going in it wasnt the quickest. But depending on what this headlight issue is I'm having I may be in the market to get a new car. So was thinking of this- and all opinions are appreciated and is this a good deal.

A beautiful car for $20K, but a used 5 series with 70K miles is a big gamble and if I was going to go that route I would probably chip in a few extra dollars for an F10.

The real issue is an expected repair bill(s) potentially doubling the cost of the car in the next 5 years, at which point a CPO starts to sound like a much better deal.

Good luck with whatever you do.

are the 5 series more prone to issues than the 3 series? I bought my e90 3 series with 84k on it. i wouldnt drive the car much but I do understand what you mean. Just wondering if the 5 series is more problem prone than the 3?

My thought process is if you are going to get a new, or even newer car, get one with low miles, like under 20K. Then you are getting a nice fresh example of whatever is new to you.

I have had a couple of pre owned cars, a 1991 MIATA I purchased in 1992 with 8000 miles, and a 1993 toyota 4x4 pickup purchased in 1994 with 6500 miles. Both cars, after I detailed them, looked and drove like new, and in my my mind were mine as new. The Miata perished in a flash flood at our beach house (submerged in salt water), and I still own the toyota (the little truck that can) with 204,000 miles.

Get the latest model, with less than 20k, in the best possible condition you can afford. Find a good, reputable mechanic that works on german cars, and start a relationship. For what BMW wants for those certified warranties, you can pay for a LOT of repairs.

My vote is to stay away from a car with 70 thousand miles on it.
