Front windshield tint
I am thinking to tint the front windshield, maybe 50% or 35%
So, what ticket will I get for the tinted windshield and how serious is it? By the way, does it somehow affect the work of the radar detector? Thanks Last edited by Artur-F10; 05-18-2012 at 07:05 PM.. |

I got it done. It's impossible to detect unless you are really looking for it. I would say go for a lighter shade ceramic or Llumar airblue, which wont affect your night vision. It wont affect the radar detector at all.
However, it can slightly distort your field of vision, but you get used to it and forget it's even there.

I am not sure about it... Also, does it keep the interior cooler?

I have it, 50%. Gatoman39 is correct. You have to know what you're looking for to notice it. As far as a citation here in California where you and I live, it is a $25 fine if you remove it and have it signed off. No points. Or you can pay a $192 fine with no sign off. My wife just got one for the tint on her Mini Cooper. Five years of tint and first citation. Oh well.....

What about 35%? Will they be strict about it? |

Friend, find a tinted window shop that works with Llumar, they have a blueish tinted window and it is legal at least in the East coast. but it is real good, keeps the car cool and cuts the glare from the car's lights at night. remember Llumar.

why not the climate comfort windscreen.
In the Uk its a £250 option - if the heats really bothering you, why get this replaced? (Compatible with the HUD if you have that) Not to criticise but surely tinting the windscreen is going to limit your view at night? There will be regulations about how dark it can be tinted but I'd have thought that won't be very much. |

Very surprised this is not offered as an option in the U.S given it can be a lot warmed than the U.K. AFter all it makes no difference to add it at the factory than any other car.
Option is £250 in the UK and IS compatible with a HUD. |
