Eco Pro Miles Gained

I've had my F10 since March and when I bought the car I was getting about 20 miles back on a full tank using Eco Pro. Since April I struggle to get more than 2-3 miles.. I know the car is now broken in so when i got the car it was not as efficient as it is now. However, my wife's F20 gets about 25 miles gained on a full tank and we have had it since June.

Is my F10 too efficient or is my Eco Pro not working properly?

How many miles do you guys gain on your F10?

I have a 520D.

Cheers

Only done around 300 miles in mine since new, as only had it a couple days. Currently sitting on around 37 miles though.

I rarely use it now but have noticed that when I do use it, my savings are in single figures. I know its comparing it to how it would be in comfort mode, I'm wondering if it's compared to how YOU are driving it in comfort mode. So if you are frugal in comfort then Eco pro will only save you a little whereas if you put your foot down normally but drive economically in eco pro, it might show more? just a guess.

My 530d has an average fuel consumption over nearly 10000 mile snow of 42.2 and eco pro when I do use just shows 2,3, 4 miles, something like that, although to be fair , I don't use it for much of the time, generally just when in heavy traffic when I figure I might as well save some fuel as I'm not going anywhere anyway!

Someone somewhere must know the algorithm ?
I know it sense when you refill as it zeros after filling up.

I think @AP is onto a theory that matches my experience as well. While not a 530D, I was surprised at how little a bonus Eco Pro gives me. I should have more fun in Comfort Mode. Then I'll save more gas in Eco Mode! :-)

I'd say you are not driving more lightly, than say in comfort mode, as you can use the miles up if you drive harder even in Eco-Pro mode. Certainly did in the 320d ED I drove for 3-days. Not changed the Eco-Pro settings have you? To get more efficient A/C for example.

According to BMW blurb, your Eco-Pro bonus is compared to another mode.

Quote:
The bonus range is the actual additional range which was achieved through your ECO PRO driving style. The bonus range is calculated in the BC according to the personal driving style and the resulting consumption. The BC gets to know the personal long-term consumption of the driver. To determine the range the current consumption in ECO PRO mode is compared to your 'learnt' consumption in the instrument cluster outside of the ECO PRO mode. This creates a difference in litres. Which is recalculated into the bonus range.
I understand that to mean if you set a benchmark consumption in say comfort mode and then drive in Eco-Pro mode, if your comfort mode driving was very light driving, you may not gain much, if any bonus in Eco-Pro mode. You'd have to drive a lot lighter to gain many miles. Fly around in sport mode and set the benchmark, then Eco-Pro will gain you "loads of miles".

I'm always in Eco Pro. I'll drive aggressively in comfort and see how my Eco Pro changes. It makes sense what you guys are saying. Thanks!
