M5 is not a COMPLETELY different monster, a Dinan stage 3 is not far off at all.

How many people went to stage 3 without the exhaust yet? I am torn between stage 2 and stage 3 since there is only a $200 price difference. The only thing is that I will have to wait a bit for the exhaust.

I did, then had it flashed back to stage 2. Car felt more laggy and flat up top when i went to stage 3 so I switched back. Happy with how the cars performing now,

@ Alextremo. I appreciate your answer. I was thinking this as well after reading the various threads. I guess I will wait until I get the performance exhaust before I go to 3.

Hi everyone!
Just pick up my 550xi M sport and looking for dinan stage 2 after winter. Is any good reputation dinan dealer in Canada, Toronto? Do they give out the warranty like State side? |

Then the SA emailed the GSM of the dealer I bought the car through and said "Car is FASSSTTT!!! And looks good now that it is lowered a little.". Should be fun to drive once it's broke in of course. Here's the video of my buddy (the mechanic) taking a quick vid. https://www.facebook.com/video/video...=4849580808101 |

Budd's BMW in Oakville is the official dealer for Dinan upgrades in the GTA area, give them a call and ask for Ted or Brent at ext. 5526, both are professional, knowledgable and very approachable! I have just installed stage 2 in my car today, the process took about an hour, I will explore the changes after the upgrade hopefully in the coming few days. I think that Dinan annual discounts will end tomorrow. In regards to the warranty, they will provide you with the same Dinan U.S. warranty listed at Dinan official website. |

Let us know when you have time to drive her!! I'm waiting for my Meisterschaft Exhaust system to arrive next week and I'm not sure yet if I should upgrade to stage 3 after the exhaust is installed? Did you upgrade from stage 2 to 3 or was it a one shot upgrade? |

Just ran against a 2013 M5 stock against my 2013 550xi with Dinan stage 2 and it was even to 100mph. From a light I power braked to 2500 rpm then punched it, I was instantly ahead by 1/3 car length and then he caught up around 60mph and was clearly going to pull ahead if we had gone to 150. We had to stop due to traffic ahead. I have to say I was really surprised and so was the driver of the M5. We had a chance to talk at the next light and he couldn't get over that he couldn't hear my car. The stock 550 exhaust is so quiet.

We do not condone such behavior! It must be the Dinan mod's effect on your right foot. Hope it is not contagious..I get my car back from its Dinan flash on Wed! LOL Thanks for the report!

My dealer said the 550x with Dinan stg 3 beat their m5 to 110 but the m5 was pulling hard above that. 550x with stage 3 is the perfect daily then.

In the end I paid the premium and went with the M5. It's a completely different car. There really is zero comparison as raw emotion alone in the M makes the car more exciting to drive. The 550i really lacks where the DCT in the M5 performs. To say "Let's throw out the DCT" and ask, "Now, how do they compare?" can't really be justified. The M5 holds gears longer, shifts quicker and revs higher. I will say that I did thoroughly enjoy the Dinan 550i. It's a great car but wasn't what I was looking for. There really was no "thrill factor", even with 587lb-ft. The power didn't deliver in an exciting manner, and the suspension (albeit in sport mode) was still too soft for my taste. If I was going to drive an F10 it was going to have to be the M. For an everyday driver, both the M and the Dinan should be considered. It really all comes down to budget. Throw an exhaust and coils on the Dinan and I think it could still excite the majority of those interested.
