550i rectangle exhuast to round quad tips... can it be done?

Hi,

Does anyone have a 550i that removed the rectangle tips and placed 4 circular tips for the quad exhaust look?

Please post pictures if you have. I'm curious if it can be done.

Thanks!!!!

I have 2011 550i with rectangle exhaust tips, originally they came steel/chrome finish, and i hate chrome, not to mention it gets dirtier faster.
So i painted it in black just like the rest of the body.
Let me try to answer your question; Is it doable? yes! is it worth it? No, it cheaper to just replace mufflers with desirable tips.
I've had my car for about a year and i have to say, i kinda prefer rectangular tips to quad round tips.
Anything can be done with right amount of money, not everything is worth doing it!
just my 2 cents

I cut off the rectangular tips on my OEM mufflers last year and replaced with quad round ceramic coated tips....do a search this has been done before.

Yes...just make sure the tips you pic are no longer than 4 3/4- 5" and have a 2 1/4" inlet. That'll match right up to the stubs after you remove the factory rectangular tips. You'll see there's not much wiggle room on the exit end of the 550i muffler so the length of the quad tips are crucial.
Don't forget to plug the flap vacumn line when you remove the factory tip and tuck it up somewhere behind the bumper.
Pic of mine with 3 1/2" slant tips (on left, right side waiting to be done).
BTW...I''ve since reverted back to chrome rectangular factory tips with my M-Sport facia...just something about the look I like...but that's just me.
Good luck...please post pics afterwards.

Depending on diameter of the tips , this might not perfectly work with the non-M sport bumper. You might wanna experiment that.
