Interior Options on F10 are Overwhelming

I have to hand it to BMW, the new F10 interior is drop-dead gorgeous (trust me I got a real long look at the New York Auto Show). Unfortunately, when you start with something that nice looking and add a number of customization options, it gets very hard to narrow things down and make a decision. You'd be surprised how different the car can look just by tweaking the interior trim colors.

Case in point, everybody's favorite interior color choice Oyster/Black Dakota Leather. It's a very nice combo all by itself, particularly with the anthracite headliner. Here it is with the standard Dark ash-grain high gloss:

Very elegant and gives the aluminum trim pieces a more subtle presentation.

Now lets try something more radical. Here's the same interior with the Black trim high gloss. Now ordinarily I would never consider black trim wood because it looks so fake but, well, just take a gander at this:

See how the aluminum trim just pops and the black and white theme of ivory and black becomes even more dramatic?

Let's try something a little more avant garde. Here's the same interior colors with light-ash grain wood:

Different but still very nice. I think it gives a lighter and more modern feel to the F10 interior.

Curse you BMW for making this so difficult!

And why couldn't you have offered the same kind of "can't lose" choices with the frikkin' sport package wheels!

A bit of off-topic, but the Sport Pkg doesn't look very appetizing. The only thing worth getting is the multi-contour seats. The rest are either cosmetic (shadow trim, ugly 332 rims, etc.) or not very useful (e.g. increased top speed limiter in the US?!).

BUT... to get the ZDH (Dynamic Handling Package), I must get the ZSP.

So, I am debating what to do with this thing. I like EDC and ARS, but I am not sold on Adaptive Drive. I guess I'll have to test drive one with and another without the ZDH to see whether I am going down this expensive chain of interdependent options.

Fineline Anthracite Trim looks spectacular with Oyster/Black Dakota Leather.

I was with a buddy who does PR for GM. Apparently there's reciprocity among exhibitors (though I can't imagine that any of the BMW guys were clamoring to get a peek at the new Arcadia).

You should consider the the fineline anthracite wood trim with Oyster/Black. That is a very beautiful combination.

What are most people doing for the headliner with oyster/black? Standard oyster or Anthracite?

And, btw, if you think these interior options are overwhelming, try configuring a porsche 911 sometime. Be prepared to do about 3 mos. of research through what is easily 100K worth of seemingly limitless options (... and profits for your dealer). I think BMW is going more and more in this direction of increasing personalization.

That was my plan too. Anthracite would probably look good as well, but I'm thinking it may be too much black.

If you go to the UK Configurator you can try the Oyster Black with and without the Anthracite Headliner. IMO the Oyster Headliner looks much better.

The F10 cars were also available to "play with" for those BMWCCA members that trekked out to Javits on April 3rd @ 8:30 AM .

BMW gave us a cute little presentation.
Afterwards, we were also allowed to look at the rest of the show (10-11 AM)
before it opened up to the general public.
