Climate fan wont work

Hi,

Thank you for letting me join such a great forum.

I am experiencing that the climatefan wont run.

Yesterday, I could hear that the fan started but then stopped right away.

The car has been parked a few months, and when I first started it, there came a message showing increased battery discharge. However, the message is now gone, and the battery seems fine.

The car is a 2012 525xd, which I received this week Unfortunately, I have no warranty on the car.

Thank you in advance:-)

Common problem with a weak battery. Non-essential electrical devices are sacrificed (including climate fan) when battery charge level is low. Low battery charge level can also cause a bunch of warning messages to appear as well.

Try charging the battery first. You also might be due for a new battery since the car is a 2012 and these cars with all their electrical systems eat batteries.

Tank you for your answer:-)

I have tried to charge my battery, but it has not changed anything.

I dont think my battery is weak since the auto start/stop function works fine.

I am afraid that it can be the FSU, do you know where its located? Cant find it behind the glovebox/fusebox.

Try turning on your defrost to see if you get full fan speed. If the fan still does not work then the fan motor has gone out. The defrost will blow full speed even on a low battery for safety reasons. I thought that my fan speed resistor had gone bad but it was the fan motor. I bought a new fan for about $200.00 online last year and installed it in a couple of hours.
On the passenger side of the engine compartment (USA model)is the housing for the fan. Remove the triangular cover at the firewall to access this area. You should see a black foam strip on the side of the housing. This keeps he large particles out of the fan. Under the top is 2 relays and a fuse. When this section is removed you get to the fan assembly and inner housing. Be careful to see how the wiring is run through and around the inner housing. If you take photos with your phone to review when you re-assemble. Its not hard to swap out at all.

BTW the fan speed resistor is under the fan assembly housing.
