BOV or blow off valve

so i know that the f10 has a diverter valve or recirculating valve, but was wondering what options there are for venting into atmosphere. anyone know of anything. cant really find anything and im sure thats for a reason, but i like the whoosh sound if you will. i have the bms intake and enjoy the little bit louder whoosh it makes but really wanna here it. i know of some adapters but i am hesitant to buy them off ebay til i can here or know of anyone else having them. any info would be great.

Word is our car doesn't need it. I've also searched when I first got my car and seems like nobody does this. Never got a definite answer as to why?

Sounds like most people add an intake to hear the Turbo spooling. Would be nice to hear a bov tho!

It will disappoint you as the turbo sound will be reduced
On the otherhand
Response will be faster

Conclusion*

A GFB TMS valve can help maintain bost pressure in the intercooler and pipes* whenever the throttle is closed with the following benefits:*

Higher boost available upon re-opening the throttle for instant response*
More boost throughout the spool-up process (up to 40%)*
Shorter lag time (reduced by up to 30%)*
No compressor surge*

Even though this is an old thread, I thought I'd throw out to everyone that modifying the stock n63, n55,n54 or I imagine most n series divertor valves to vent partially atmospheric like the turbosmart dual port valve should be as simple as removing and drilling a few small holes in the right spots.

Has anyone tried this?

you can always vent to atmosphere but keep in mind the car runs off recirculating air/maf sensor. You will throw whatever tune you have due the unmetered air.

Changing from a recirculating divertor valve to venting atmospherically would have no affect on turbo sound while boosting. Unless I am misreading your comment here?

N55 and n54 have many options for atmospheric conversions. I have seen adaptors/spacers that convert your stock divertor into venting atmospherically. I have installed these type of adaptors on other turbo cars with no issues.

In fact turbosmart makes one. Google n54/n55 divertor valve atmospheric adaptor. Literally bolts between. OEM divertor valve and the turbo.

i've installed the TurboSmart valve since last April and it vents half to atmosphere and half back into the system to prevent any issues. no problems til this day

I second the Turbosmart DV's, I just got them installed on my 550, completely new sound. Night and day difference in sound. I did DP's and upgraded turbos so can't say there was any gain from it.

I used the GFB diverter valve on my f10 and their was no noticeable difference at all. just turbo noises. I ended up removing it, it gets annoying after a while. I personally wouldn't recommend it due to all the work you have to do to get to it.

i have about 4 guys who have done this now and they all love it! 1 had the GFV and also said the TurboSmart sounds 10x better. as far as performance i feel it's holding boost better but i could be wrong since i had the GPlus Intercooler installed as well. but sounds wise you can't go wrong.

why not try this

https://www.ssdd-motorsport.com/bmw-...valve-adaptor/

or

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251...apt=4itemAdapt

both will sound like turbosmart and way cheaper
