Engine Cover Turning Yellowish? (Pics)

Just noticed my engine bay turning yellowish. Wondering if anyone knows what the reason could be for this? 2011 550i 57k miles on it.

Yep, you have a 2011, because in the later years most of the cover is black with very little silver - mine's doing the same thing. It's most likely from heat that the turbos are generating. Since you're over 50K miles you're out of you warranty, if you have a good rapport with your service adviser, maybe he could finagle getting you a new cover.

My two cents, it could be atomized oil on there, though heat is the likely source. If oil, a little soap and water may do it.

Appreciate the prompt response brother. What a relief. Im new to BMWs, love the way this thing drives but currently don't have a warranty. Looking to get one through my local BMW dealer though just to be safe.

Would you recommend any fuel additives or have any suggestions to keep this thing running tip top? Other than oil changes.

I will try that tomorrow morning and see how it works. Thanks!

Is it plastic? I would take some black high temp engine paint and paint it if it bothers you. Or...those carbon fiber engine covers look pretty sweet too!

Honestly it doesn't bother me much as long as it's not causing any harm to the engine. But, if i want to sell the car in say a year or two, the buyer that sees this might think something is fxcked up.

Will try cleaning it today, if that doesn't do the job, might just have to paint it black. Thanks gentlemen.
