^^^^^Little HDR ghosting there, Tim?

Nice pic anyway. Are you doing something in PP to isolate the subject building or is it just the usual lighting for the ESB and Chrysler bldg?

This is from the top of the empire state building. Too bad they don't let you bring tripods up there.

Out in the open. I even brought a tripod with me, they told me no tripods are allowed up there once I got there, I was so disappointed.

Im not sure on monopods. What I did I used the bars to rest my camera on, still not a easy task though.

i've been places where i say "it's a monopod" and they've usually just said, "just be carefull, if there's lots of people around, don't use anything, it's just safety"

they'll usually let you anyhow, or just say "opps, sorry, i forgot" or "nobody told me"

all of which has worked for me in the past.

Here's my favorite night, hand-held because no pods allowed on the London Eye:

Romantic full moon as seen from London Eye by dcstep, on Flickr

ISO 3200, 1/30 sec, f/4, 24mm using the 24-105mm f/4L IS, thank you IS. I pressed myself against the glass. If you go over to Flickr and look at the Original size you can see a bit of movement that's easiest to see with the light points.

Right next to the "Warewolves of London".
You sure do get around Dave. Excellent capture with the moon.

Thanks guys.

You can't go to London without doing The Eye and I think that nighttime is best, but plan on leaving the pod on the ground. Today I'd shoot that at ISO 6400 instead of 3200.
