New owner
Just bought a 2011 535i xdrive (no SAT) last weekend. I turned DSC all the way off, whipped the wheel full lock, then 3/4 throttled it on the second day of ownership; that car is the real deal as is! Anyone have any tips/tricks they'd recommend for a new owner?

Also- does anyone have any recommendations for a good outdoor car cover? I live in the northeast, so it has to protect from LOTS of weather because the car is going to stay outside. Preferably BMW logo somewhere on the hood

Change all the fluids. My indy sez the number one reason for BMW failures is the long list of fluids designated 'life time', including the tranny and differentials. Ignore factory data and change motor oil every 5 - 7k miles too.

Careful with car covers. They are great for inside garages where there is no wind or agitation, but if you put them on a car with even a little bit of environmental dust/grit on the paint, the cover is going to move around and act as sandpaper. No immediate damage, but potentially over time. I may be overly paranoid on that, but check into it and get some opinions.
And as noted above, unless it is documented by previous owner, change all the fluids, including the transfer case and diffs. Then get out there and drive it!!! |
