Want my Brake Lights to Pulse/Strobe...any suggestions?
My street is located at the bottom of a steep hill, on a curve. I'm always very careful of who is behind me when coming down the hill and getting ready to turn. I'll pump my brakes and put my turn-signal on slightly earlier than needed. I remembered that i have seen some cars have their 3rd brake light flash 3 times before it comes on solid, which i'm guessing is just something plug-and-play. But then i saw some youtube videos on strobing or pulsating brake lights and thought that would be neat, instead of just flashing. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I swore i saw an E39 m5 a few years ago that had all brake lights strobe when the brakes were depressed and thought it was the coolest retro-fit.

I was hoping there would be another way to do this, other than coding. I am unfamiliar with how to do any of that and don't have any apps or software.

Yes the brake lights here in Europe, legislation has for a long time allowed them to flash under heavy braking.
I think they appeared on the e60 originally so have been around for quite a while .( thought I read that the e39 was going to have them but legislation never agreed in time so it didn't make it to that model) Somewhere on the I internet you'll find the exact parameters that trigger this. I think it's a certain amount of deceleration and also possibly if abs is activated |

Even when coded in, the stock settings have it so flashing brake lights only happen under VERY heavy braking. Even if you change the setting so it flashes under any amount of braking deceleration, it's not a "blink 3 seconds and solid", it's "blinks until you come to a complete stop", which WILL annoy the hell out of other drivers. So the coding option, realistically, will not accomplish what you are seeking.

As a driver behind some 'murican brands that adopted this and poorly done retrofits...
Please don't, it gets annoying really fast, especially in traffic. Flashing under hard braking is factory and the best iteration for the situation.

you can set the parameter in the deceleration section to reasonable value so it won't blink every time you press the brake pedal
you can set the minimum velocity parameter to activate the emergency braking light and you can also set the parameter to determine when the brake lights will stop blinking (either complete stop or after your car is no longer under heavy deceleration) |
