Transmission Cooler Lines Noise
I've had a bizarre noise on my 335xi that has stumped many people. Here's a video of it:
Long story short, it seems to correspond to wheel speed, at coast or during braking. I finally got a dealership to hear it and try various things. They're claiming that the noise is from the transmission cooler lines pulsing and hitting something whenever the transmission is warm and pumping fluid. Why is this in the 5 series section? They claim this problem happens to the 535 as well, and it's "common" on these cars. They also say that they've tried various fixes with no luck (protecting the line, tying it to a support, etc). I can't find a single thing on line about this happening, either to a 5 series or a 3 series, and I think their reasoning is complete BS. So 535 owners, have any of you heard of any such thing? If so, any fixes? |
