is it worth it changing to 2009 M6?
I've done a lot of thinking And in this past year of owning my 2011 535 I feel that it's time for a change..don't get me wrong it's a great all around car but I've always loved the last model m6..would it be a big drawback going from 2011 535 to a 2009 M6 due to the year diff..I know they are 2 diff cars but man I really have the need for speed lol

IMO, the Second Gen 6 (E63/E64) are ugly. Save up a bit and get a 3rd Gen (F12/F13), even if it's not an M. Baron BMW near me has a 2012 650i brand new for $72k. Fully loaded, even with LED headlights. Get the N63 engine chipped/tuned and you'll smoke any stock M6. |

I love the style of that M6..the problem is I don't want to spend more than 50k plus I'd have to find one with warranty and add the extended warranty..I jus love the sound of the v10 with the rumble of the exhaust..but at the end of the day maybe it's not worth it..I'll prolly jus have to chip the F10 to give it that extra juice

I personally could never do that. I always thought that generation 6-Series had a terribly ugly, passe, flawed design which wouldn't age well. IMO it got dated exceptionally fast. As a car, platform and design, the F10 is leaps and bounds ahead of it, which IMO is more important than even that exotic, glorious V10. To each their own.

M6 could become a great looking car with some mods. Check this one out: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=771460
Nevertheless, I would still choose a car from the current generation.

I think '09 M6 is a great option. If interior room isn't a concern for you, then why not. The s85 was proven overtime to be a great engine and most of the aftermarket companies have already come out with exterior parts for the E63/64, so you know what options you have and you know how they are going to look, with some mods, it can turn out to be a really great looking car.

Don't know what half of these people are talking about on here....obviously people who likely have never driven the M6.
I had one for 2 years from 2008-2010.....it was a beautiful car...the V10 sound is amazing....Ferrari-like. The car wasn't ugly, at all.....it was a $120,000 sportscar. Enough said. I've driven the F10 535....had the F02 750....the technology, etc. was not that much different from 2008-2009 to 2011. You don't see many on the road because it's 2.5 times the price of an F10. You also probably don't see many SL63s or Bentley GTs, either.....for the same reason. |

Also would add to the above...it is a $110k plus sports car! Have driven them at the M school and it is no slouch. Not bad to look at although yes the newer M6 looks much better I agree. However it can be a VERY expensive proposition and if you're already talking about how you have to budget just to get one (under $50k) then I suggest you really think twice before taking such a plunge as you could easily find yourself in for a financial adventure that you didn't plan for especially if you end up with a car needing some TLC=tender loving cash!

Coming from an e60M5 and now having a F10 5er, I would choose the m6 anyday of the week (as long as its in decent condition).
I doubt many people have driven that engine and you will of course get biased comments when asking this question on the f10 forum. I always hated the look of the E60 but the engine and the way it drove removed all doubts. Same thing goes for the e63. It's not even a comparison in my book |

If i hated the look of a car, regardless of the engine, I wouldn't buy it.
