+1. I have the same problem with my 535i since day 1. Also I am not able to just control the passenger side. For example, I can't just have the passenger side on only and driver side off. Everytime I turn driver side off, everything shuts off. |

Did you have the grinding problem of the steering wheel at slow turns?

There's no way to turn that function off. It's kind of annoying. It doesn't always come on, like if your doing multiple stops for choirs. But if you let it sit for a while the car will turn on the HVAC system to the last setting.

Evil,
Although my HVAC system comes on automatically when I start the car, my A/C does not. I don't shut the system down when I park the car, but would turn off the A/C in the last few blocks before turning in the driveway. I think I had to hit the switch each time I wanted it to come back on. Maybe the key is to not shut down the entire system and instead just the A/C,.... before you shut the engine off. |

This sucks! i hate having to turn it off all the time when i get in the car. Why bmw? why? This feature is really pointless IMO.

Yeah I don't get it either. But we're spoiled in So Cal, as in it's gonna be almost 80 degrees tomorrow in LA. I guess they figured 9 times out of ten it's either too hot or too cold in the car so we'll turn the HVAC on for you. I guess it's par for the course considering this is the most button heavy techno car I've ever driven. It's like getting ready for a submarine torpedo launch every time I get ready to leave the driveway. Every time there's a passenger in the front seat I want to ask to simultaneously turn our keys to commence.

Nothing you can do about....
I checked it with my dealer... he says the blower (Fan) should always be on. That's the way the car is designed. You just have to make sure the temp setting suits the time of year to make you cabin temp comfortable. And it's making some sense to me lately... because when I turn the blower off, I notice that it becomes a bit warm and stuffy inside the cabin, regardless of how cold it is outside.... It feels like you wanna crack open a window. I think this is because when the blower is off, the cabin is sealed without any ventilation. |
