Dinan DPT sport for $299

I saw the new (I guess) Dinan DPT spot piggyback boost controller on the website. It claims UP TP 30 hp, 40 tq with Bluetooth connectivity on you phone (not apple yet).

Has anyone tried this? It would be great to have something I can leave on my car when is goes in for an oil change....

any reviews/experience with this would be great....

I know, I know.... JB4 or MP is the best way to go, I get it. BUT for $300 bucks, not having to remove it I thought it might be a solid option for now just to wake the car up a bit.

thank you

it voids your warranty and is not legal in most states i believe. the $2k option keeps warranty when done by a BMW dealer.

Thats the route im going.

Ok so I picked up one of these a week ago for cheap as my local parts dept had a sale... anyhow, for a 1 sensor hookup, Bluetooth, and adjustable boost, it seemed like a no-brainer.

I've been driving it for a week with the default setting and since I use an iPhone I was using it with the out of box settings. There is a definite extra kick in the mid range...

I also picked up a $25 prepaid android phone to run the app... seems to work fine albeit the app needs some more work to make it intuitive. I verified the box is set to +3.0 psi and the boost gauge works, albeit with a little lag. Now my question is, at +3.0 psi, what boost should I be hitting? The gauge measures a peak of 15 psi, which seems too high. The car is a totally stock 2013 535 xdrive. What is the baseline boost setting for a 535? Also, when starting the app, the gauge is offset by +4 psi when idle... there is a zero button which does zero the gauge out. The +15 psi was measured from zero...

I have yet to try the +4.0 psi setting...

Thanks a lot for your review, I have been wanting to check this out. I plan on purchasing soon. Anymore thoughts to add since you've had it a little longer? overall happy with the purchase?

Thanks!

Overall, it's worth it for the power bump. The mid range torque boost is definitely noticeable in all gears. It pulls really well up to about 5500rpm and then kind of feels like it flattens out, but I think that's to be expected since that's how it felt stock. Driveability is fine as well. I've been using the default +3.0 psi setting and maybe when the weather cools, I'll try race mode since I use 93 octane.

I checked for any hidden codes with ISTA-D and there were none so it doesn't seem like this box will trigger any of those. My only wish is for an iOS version Of the app to be ready and the overall app needs to be made a little more intuitive. It does get the job done though and it's in beta, so technically it's still a work in progress.

Sorry for the noob question but I'm assuming this is N55 only not N63? If so, I'll keep moving on!
