iPhone playback issue
Just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue.
I have a -12 f11, professional sound system, and the iPhone connected through the center armrest USB. My issue. This started with the latest iOS 8.1.2 update. Quite often when I connect my phone it will not play music. I see the phone, my playlists, songs.... Everything. But when selecting one it won't play. I can have the phone playing music, then stop the car, leave the phone connected while shopping, filling fuel ect. And when starting up again it won't play any music, same as mentioned above. The only solution I have found so far is to go to my phone, and start or restart a song on the phone itself. Then everything starts working again. What I think is happening is that when I shut down the car, the phone senses its disconnected and pause the music, and now my car can't unpause it again when it reconnects. And I have to do this on the phone. When I'm connecting my phone I guess the music app is not running, and my car is not able to lauch the music app to start playing music. Then I have to go to my phone and start a song, and then everything is working fine again. This does not happen all the time, perhaps 50% or so. Anyone else have this issue after the latest IOS update? This was never an issue in the past. |

I was having the same issue on my 2011 535i with my iPhone 6 and iOS 8.1.2. As soon as I updated the 535's software to the latest release UPD01008 (located here: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/con...re_update.html) the problems seem to have been corrected. I can now consistently pick any song from a playlist on my iPhone and it will play.

So it's been a few days now and well..... It's better.
I would estimate that I have connected the phone to the car just over 50 times since the update, including leaving the phone connected during short stops. On one occasion I found it just continued on the last song I had been playing, but just that song, not the whole playlist was available on the scrolling wheel. I did start that song on AirPlay in my house though. Had to select the playlist on the idrive and then it was back to normal. Once it refused to play any music at all, from the steering wheel, idrive or even the phone itself, but a phone reset fixed everything and it started up where it left off. All in all, much better after the update, but not 100%. |

And now apple brought out a new iOS update and I have playback issues again.
Won't start playing when i connect my phone, sometimes it will play the first song in my playlist, then skip to number 14 and play that one. selecting song 2 or 4 from the idrive, and it just goes quiet before it plays song 14 again. If I start a song between 2 and 13 on the phone itself, it will play, but skip next, and it 14 again. no new BMW update yet. This is starting to aggravate me. |

i found Apple music too unreliable so changed to spotify (USB cable) - works fine now. I don't have BMW Apps so control everything from the iPhone, which is fine.
