Confirmed - Wastegate Rattle N63

Well I thought getting out a of an N54 car I'd never have to mess with wastegate rattle again. I was driving through a multi-level car park with the windows down and there it was. I couldn't believe it so I put the car in manual shift and held 1st gear on decel which really set it off.

I took the car to my dealer (who is really cool about mods) and they confirmed the problem. Due to my car being catless and the hoops BMW is putting them through to swap turbos they recommended I didn't go forth with the claim.... ugh.

I guess I'm going to be after an M5 sooner than I thought...

S63 M5 wastegate rattle is even worse lol.

You're catless, you're always going to have wastegate rattle.

I'm catless and it's not that bad.

I think you're confusing rattle with wastegate flutter. Flutter can be heard while in boost and you're right it's way more prominent with catless DP's.

The sound I'm hearing is on decel with mechanically loose actuators or wastegate rods that are worn out. If I were keeping the car I'd probably try to tighten them a turn and call it good.

The N63tu/S63 rattle can be fixed with a reflash tune. That is something we pioneered into and so far this was a great success on our test N63 and few S63s

Great, but that doesn't help us poor Non-TU people.

Reviving dead thread since it sounds like I have the same issue.

In low rpms 2-3k if I suddenly gas more than 50% I can hear a rattle on acceleration and I'm wondering if I should worry. Have others experienced this?
