F10 528i knocking noise at cold start

Anyone with a knocking noise when you start your car at cold weather or the car been idle for long period of time.

I have a 528i and it also makes that noise. When I talked to my dealer he said it was "normal". I'm so tired of that answer that the only way I can think of to strike back is to leave BMW once the lease on my F10 is over. I've had three brand new BMW's over the last few years and all of them have had numerous faults. I'm sick and tired of paying a lot for a car that isn't more premium than an Opel.

I had it once for a few seconds after startup and never again..
normal idle is quiet as hell, u can forget to turn it off

same here with comfort access sometimes i forget i need a key, ive left the engine on a few times and started to walk off...

did you guys let it idle for like 1-2 minutes? try to let it idle on a cold start in the morning for 1-2 minutes

I live in new england, was about -5 degrees last night and took it out to drive after it sat for about 3 days in brutal weather and I didnt notice anything out of the ordinary. I will have a listen when i get home today from work as it has been sitting there over night

ok let us know the results when you do... for me when I cold start it, it idles fine for the first minute, after that it starts making that knocking noise

in car now, 25 deg. cold start.. after 2 mins no knocking.... after 5 mins still no knocking....

gotta love the bimmer post iPhone app!
