My new F10 535d; what a joy!
I picked up my new F10 535dA HE yesterday!
I love everything about this car. I already much appreciated the engine and comfort of my old E60 530d (see first photo), which I have had for more than 7 years now, but i.m.o. (having driven 300 km) the F10 535d has a phenomal strong engine, ultimate comfort and extreme luxury. 535dA High Executive - P0475 : Saphirschwarz metallic - FLCCX : Leather Dakota Oyster - 205 : Eight-speed automatic transmission - 2HM : 18" Radial-spoke style 237 - 2VA : Adaptive Drive - 2VH : Integral Active Steering - 316 : Auto open/close trunc - 3AG : Reversing Assist camera - 403 : Glass sunroof - 455 : Oscillating seat base function - 456 : Comfort seats - 465 : Split-folding rear seat - 494 : Seat heating, front - 4UR : Ambient interior lighting - 502 : Headlight wash - 508 : Park Distance Control - 522 : Xenon headlights - 534 : Automatic Air conditioning - 5AD : Lane departure warning system - 5DF : Active Cruise Control - 5DL : Surround View - 609 : Navigation BMW Professional Multimedia - 610 : Head-Up display - 612 : BMW ConnectedDrive - Assist - 616 : BMW ConnectedDrive - Online - 620 : Voice Control - 633 : Bluetooth telephone - 654 : DAB digital radio - 677 : Hifi Professional system - 6FL : USB Audio interface - 6NF : Bluetooth telephone audio connection - 8TH : Speed Limit display __________________ 2003 E60 530dA E (ret.) 2010 F10 535dA HE

That's a great looking car you've got there with a fantastic spec. What do you think of the HIfi Professional?

I a very happy with the HiFi Professional, especially in combination with the USB interface, just as you have ordered! You won't regret it. I bought an extra iPod to have it permanently connected. The bluetooth audio works ok with the iPhone4 but a USB-connected iPod or iPhone gives more functionality. You can fully operate it such as selecting playlists etc. and you get nice info such as artist, title and even cd-cover-image on the right-screen.

The sound is great. More than enough power. According to the manual it's better not to use the full 600 Watts during the first 1200 miles, so I still use the volume knob moderately
But seriously: its great, sound quality as well as connectivity. I use my iPhone4 via BT and my iPod Classic 160GB via USB (permanently connected). The latter is giving problems though with slow playback sometimes. Then even the seconds in the display are slow (by about 4 second per minute) and quality of sound is of course poor then. I hope and think its an iPod problem. Does anyone have the same experience here? I experimented with the surround option, but I cannot say if I like it better with surround option or just pure stereo. But then again what is stereo with 16 speakers?

The steering with IAS is absolutely very comfortable and I appreciate it very much.
But I must say that I am not one of the guys who would flawlessly feel every tiny bit of extra technology that comes between them and the road. Although now and then I like using the power of the engine and go through the corners with a little bit more speed than usually, I am certainly not demanding to have ultimate contact with the road. And I am not even sure if IAS would get in the way if I was demanding just that. The IAS enables me to do extremely sharp cornering at low speeds. Very handy in parking and, although not having had the opportunity, I assume that it's very nice when you are in a tight parking-garage. First I was thinking this extremely sharp cornering possibilities was the result of the steering rear wheels. Yesterday I parked my car with the front wheels in extreme steered position, and yet I could hardly see (if anything) that the rear wheels were steered. It is a maximum of 3 degrees as BMW states and that should have large effects according to BMW. I must say that there is a remarkable effect indeed, but its hard to imagine that it is a result of the rear wheel steering if you can hardly (or not) see it.

Hi 535daHEfan
Thanks for describing your experience with IAS. The 3 degree maximum turn and the result on the overall driving/steering dynamic is something I was wondering about too. It seems 3 degrees is very little to have a noticeable effect, but it must, otherwise why would they have it right? I think it would be very hard to detect 3 degrees movement from straight, or perhaps get someone to steer it while your face is right up to the wheel to see for sure. Cheers. |
