2016 550 w/ 64k miles, good buy?

Hello all,

I am new here and hoping to be an owner soon. I have found a beautiful 550 AWD, fully loaded, 64k miles going for $27,000. I've been told the 2016 is the only 550 one could buy with any slight sense of security. Any tips on what I should be looking for in terms of issues? As a whole, would this be a recommended purchase? Anyone with a high mileage 2015/2016 550 that can comment?

Thank you!

Pricing seems about right, but you may want to check in on some of the recall items if they were performed like the HPFP. Also, check on the oil pan leak that a lot of 550i owners run into. I had mine done at the 72k mark.

2014 550i's were n63tu, so for the most part you should be good.

Make sure to get a good PPI, so you can negotiate your asking price accordingly.

I just had my upper oil pan valley gasket replaced...at 70k miles.

Good maintenance history is key!

if you do buy, first thing i'd do is change out all the fluids (oil / brake / diff/ trans / coolant), some may think its over kill, but its cheap insurance (my $.02).

Personally i do oil changes once every 6-7k miles. (liqui moly) and the other fluids typically every 2 / 2.5 yrs...i buy all the parts i can myself on FCP euro and then take it to my mechanic....

Good luck!
