Damaged bumper

Im considering to buy a test car from BMW but there is a slight problem The back bumper was damaged and now its been replaced. According to my dealer it was a minor damage caused when parking and wasnt even the whole bumper just the bottom middle part. I saw the car and dunno but the trunk was also removed for some reason I guess this is standard procedure when replacing the bumper. No? Also something like a metal pole was replaced and again according to him usually when a bumper is damaged this is also replaced because of some safety reasons and I think he mentioned something about pedestrians. Then again I find it suspiciously since the damage wasnt that high who knows. Any idea of the procedure when replacing the rear bumper? What is necessary to be replaced and do you always remove the trunk? The floor was removed as well I guess it is because of the parking sensors and blalbla but it looked pretty bad in my eyes

I had my rear bumper cover replaced about a year ago, no other parts were remove or replaced. Sound like your dealer is trying to hide something and the accident was a lot more serious than he claims.

Like X Men, I had an E60 that had to have the rear bumper replaced due to damage to the side of the car. Every time I saw the car, the trunk lid was in the up position but it was never removed. Other than clips, and small mounting hardware there were no other parts replaced. I had PDC sensors as well that were reused. The metal pole he is referring to is possibly the actual steel bumper that the cover, well, covers. That implies a little more force than a parking lot ding. More force may explain why the trunk lid was removed due to damage.
I doubt the F10s are much different.

However, this type of damage does not deter the driving ability of the car. It does however affect the value. "Drive" a hard bargain. Also check if the 'accident' shows up on any car accident reporting services, such as car proof.

I hope they could show me pics of the car's damage. Thing is all they do is about 6% off the stated price on this one and some other 5 series driven by some BMW executives. Was expecting something about 10-15% sounds reasonable to me. I just dont get it im not a new customer, in the last 5-6 year bought 2 expensive cars and paid in cash...got much more than 6% off my brand new 7 series which back then was less than an year old model.
