Just found my old post.... Change the VO code from 8KC to 8KL and your car will have 10k mile service intervals. My dealer changed my oil after 10k miles and did not question it at all.

I don't quite understand the point of the posters who own earlier cars. They bought their cars with a service program that was disclosed at the time. That was the deal, along with the warranty and all. Why should BMW change it now? If you want interim oil changes, I'm sure the dealer'll be happy to provide them at the usual price.

I suppose if there were warranty claims related to poor lubrication resulting from high-mileage oil change intervals, the subsequent change might be considered evidence that the longer intervals were too long. I just haven't ever heard of any such claims. A more likely motivation for the change is to get some owners in to the dealer more often so that other repairs and maintenance procedures can be sold.

Interesting that you would think BMW "screwed over" customers with free oil changes every year. What does that mean Audi and Mercedes did to their customers, with no free maintenance at all?

Guys, the 15k mile oil change has been around for a long, long time... at least since I bought my first BMW in 2001. I owned my previous two BMWs for about 6.5 years a piece, and I ONLY ever changed the oil at these intervals. Both cars were relatively flawless from a mechanical point of view on the day I sold them - one with over 125k miles, and the other over 80k.

For the posters speculating that the LCI 550 doesn't have ASS, I'm not sure where you're getting your info - I own a 2014 550, and yes, it does have ASS - although I keep it disabled.

I can't tell you what's changed in order for BMW to switch the oil interval... but I can at least say that it's been around for a long, long time at 15k miles without problems.

The diesels are included in this update, but my 2014 328d has had the 10K interval since day-1??? It's a 2/14 build and I took delivery 3/14. Did the 535d's have different/longer intervals?

not sure... last time I took my car in I thought it said next oil change was 10K but after this recent one last weekend it shows 8000 or 3/19 for next service for oil change.
