That sounds way too low. You risk getting a DLPIB ticket (driving like a pussy in a bimmer ) if you continue to limit at 3000 rpm.

Please, confirm!

It's a diesel. We live in the low end... Just like bass players.
But I was wrong, the correct recommended "limit" is 3500 rpm, not 3000 rpm.

I've a 530d and I find that the power is all useful with low revs so I didn't find running in a problem. there's more than enough power ther for you. and of course once runin you'll have even more than in my 530d. Thats going to be seriously quick car.
Is the gearing the same as the 530d? Mind cruises at 70mph at 1500rpm, hardly breaking a sweat!

cracking car though, the estate really is as good a looker as the saloon/sedan.

Congrats Rhinosaur!! It looks almost like mine...sorry it looks exactly like my beaut! A looong wait is over. I was happy as a kid on the day of the delivery! It's really a fantastic car - even though I can regret a little bit I did not go for the 535d instead of 530d....

Thanks, Bimmernerd! It was indeed a long wait, but it paid off because I got the new professional navigation system for a matter of days (I think two days).

About our cars being so similar, I guess great minds think alike.
Do you also have black dakota leather and hexagon aluminum in yours?

Exactly. There's so much power under the hood that the running in period is definitely not a problem.
I'll have to come back to you on the gearing question in a few days as I am currently away for work. I'll see how it compares to yours.

F11 is a fantastic motor, 535d must be the best mile muncher around.

Got my F11 535i M-sport touring yesterday, and that is no slouch. 300 mile drive home, what a motor. Superb spec', including Adaptive Drive, HUD, panoramic roof, cameras, etc.

Went for the petrol as I don't do the miles, much sweeter than the diesels, vibration free.

The 35d is indeed a fantastic motor. I am still in the running in period but so far I haven't even had the need to apply full throttle, such is the power reserve in this engine. I am glad that the only things I can "complain" about are just:
- the time it takes to have ConnectedDrive fully operational after I first applied for it online,
- a rattle coming from the empty passenger seat's headrest (which I will ask to be solved by BMW Service when it is convenient for me).

And congratulations on your 35i, HighlandPete! I guess our 35d/35i engines are close cousins…

No I chose Oyster/black Dakota leather and dark wood trim for the interior. The color combo looks great although I must admit it is difficult to maintain even with the best leather care products. The leather gets easily stained by dark clothes, e g blue or black jeans...no pain, no gain
