Long idle time question

Ok- Just looking for a little reassurance here. Got the new 535i on Monday, wife drove it to work for the first time yesterday, and I had her car because I took the dogs to day care. She got home about 2 hours before I did and, because of Comfort Access and no key slot on the dash, forgot to turn the engine off but simple parked, got out, and locked it running. So, my car with 125 miles on it sat in the driveway idling for 2 hours.

When I got home, and finally shut the car off, there was a mild burning rubber smell around the car, which I am assuming/hoping was just from some settling in or burning off of factory goo from a heat shield or some such.

thoughts? concerns?

Thanks!

-Steve

i cant imagine anything going bad just because your car was on idle for couple of hours, although not a good practice, so kindly remind your wife to shut off the car next time she drives it. i'll be more concerned of carbon dioxide poisoning if the car was parked inside a closed garage. the rubbery smell probably just came from parts settling in.

best regards.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Just kind of paranoid since it's brand new. The wife has been instructed on a new method of ensuring this doesn't happen again!

HA! My wife did this last week too. But I had 7000 miles on it and it was only running for about 30 mins. Anyway. That burning smell is normal and persists for a couple thousand miles, it's normal.
