Question: How to override light errors?

All,
I'm looking at installing the new X5 LED fog lights into my 2012 BMW 550i. But I'm guessing the X5 LED fog lights will pull fewer watts then the halogen H11 bulb that is stock. I'm guessing that will cause the 550i to report an error for lights.

One option is to put a load resistor in there but that will create substantial heat and isn't a sustainable solution. So the remaining option is some way of disabling the alarm. Has anyone done something similar in the past and found a way around this?

Thanks!
