Poor quality of merino leather....

This the Champagne Merino leather after 1 and 1/2 years of usage. I used only leatherique cleaning products. I am having some difficulties in Romania to change the leather seats. They said that the BMW Germany don't want to change...
The leather is tearing apart and one stitch has gone out.
Any thoughts?

Wow that's looks horrible. Sucks to see that happen. What kind of pants do you wear? It *looks* like they've been abused significantly but if you're taken care of them and they still come out looking like that then it's really poor quality leather in the durability sense.

Same.

How many miles do you have on it? I have a 10 year old Volvo with similar type seats and 150K miles, and they look nothing like that.

What was BMW's explanation why they refuse to replace leather on your seats? They certainly have their own theory why your seats look like this, what was it?

It's obvious that a huge rave went on in that cabin!

I have to say if I was within BMW and saw those pictures I'd come to a conclusion that those seats have been used in some unusual way... I can see why they won't simply replace.

What sort of mileage? Looks like over 200,000 miles of use.

That leather looks abused and neglected to me. No wonder BMW decided not to replace them.

Those seats look like they have been abused and probably never been clean before.

It looks like someone sat in those seats with wet jeans. Looks like a lot of moisture damage to the leather.

I cleaned the leather only with leatherique cleaner and twice a year with rejuvenation oil. Because it's a light color I had to cleaned it once or twice a month. Last month started to grain and that's it.

For some of you sounds funny but believe me i treated this car like my baby. I am planning to change the leather on the warranty. In my opinion the quality is poor because its stains easily and you have to clean it so often...

I have 44.000 km with it. The dealer said that usually they don't change the leather but repaint it. I still hope to change it. Let's see...

Interesting -- it's a left hand drive.

No offence but how large are you? Those seats look crushed. Or do you slide in and out of the seats perhaps? I have a tiny bit of leather surface coming away on my 2009 e89 with white nappa leather and I baby mine too but it's a tiny fault compared to your photos where the seats look very badly damaged. Whether through no cleaning or excessive cleaning perhaps?

Why? Because the steering wheel is on the left and the car was bought in UK? You can do this. You can buy a car from BMW UK and they will order it to match specs of the country where it will be registered and of course with the same equipment as UK cars. And all that for much lower price then for example if you buy the same car from BMW in Germany. There are threads where people from Germany have bought a BMW in UK and then registered it in Germany where they live and saved something like 20%.

I don't think that what he meant. I think he meant that, from looking at those pictures, most people will think that those seats have been abuse and yet the OP continue to claim he took good care of them.

Well let Lee writes what he meant if he wants to.

It's quite interesting that piano black trim looks like new and people were usually saying that piano black is very sensitive and shows scratches. I don't think OP has selectively chosen to take care of trim and abuse the seats, it doesn't make sense. That's why I was asking for BMW explanation why seats look like that and what was done to them so they refuse to replace them. It could be a lot of sweat or water that stayed for long time on those seats and after that leather lost its quality and was then ruined.

Those seats definitely look like they where mistreated. Looks like seats got dirty a lot and then cleaned incorrectly a lot.

Exactly -- thanks for having my back! It is just so intriguing and adds so much levity. I sincerely hope we get a final answer to the conundrum.

I have to agree with most of the comments expressed -- seems less treated than meticulous care. Besides that, hope everything works out for ya.
