Adaptive Headlights
Hello,
I have a 2014 535, with Xenon headlights. So I checked the build sheet, and this is what comes up: 524 - Adaptive Headlights 5AC - High Beam Assistant 5AP - Decode anti-glare high beam assistant 8S4 - Decoder variable light distribution The high beam assistant works fine. What does the 5AP and 8S4 mean. Are these disabling some features? What should I expect form my headlights? I do not see them doing much at this point. Do they only swivel? Thanks! |

I just googled 5AP bmw, and it looks like you guys in the NA don't get some of the features of the high beam assist we get in Europe.
I guess yours only turns the high beam on and off.

Yes, I have been reading into it. It seems this is more for the US version cars.
I have a Canadian version, so why would this be disabled? Any other Canadian LCI owners with Xenons? What is going on with your lights? |

The North American specs for adaptive xenons are downsized compared to the European ones. The 5AP and 8S4 are disable codes, they turn off some features that would otherwise be enabled. With the full spec your lights should react horizontally and vertically on turns, curves, humps and hollows. The high beams should also be smart depending on traffic
You need an experienced partner to remove the disable codes so the full spec adaptive lights functionality will be enabled. Here is a good description and member's video on how it works in Europe: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=727721 Last edited by valbmw; 12-25-2014 at 04:04 PM.. |

Thanks for the reply.
I just thought Canadian cars would get it, but not US. So to be clear, the LCI xenons have the full adaptive headlights with beam splitting and all, but it is disabled? Would I run into any problems by having this coded, and how would I do this? I know its asking a lot, but this is a great feature I a missing out on. |
