Retrofit headliner to black?

Has anyone replaced their grey headliner with a black one? I realize this includes additional parts (A, B, C pillars, grab handles and visors), but I'd be interested to know how hard of a retrofit it is.

That's a great thread, thanks. Yep, looks like it's not a cheap mod, but a do-able one.

If you've got any questions feel free to PM me, the headliner itself was easy but the sunroof cassette was brutal because of those brackets!

I re-read your post about getting the sunroof cassette out (and back in) and yeah, that's more than I want to take on. Maybe if I need to replace my sunroof one day...

It is a task but if you're mechanically inclined it's easier. The real enjoyment is knowing you did it yourself

if you are going to that effort I would recommend the alcantara version as it is SO much better.

I did it to my 335i years ago, its really not all that hard and the sunroof isn't all that terrible, just takes patience and the right process. It was well worth the mod.

E9x is a completely different animal. If not for the brackets riveted to the roof on the F10 it would be just as easy as most BMW's, but those brackets are super-d-duper in the way on the F10 and make R&R of the sunroof cassette a brutal task.
