Battery discharging while stopped...electrical devices were temporarily switched off

I have been leaving my old iPhone 4s connected via aux USB in my arm rest basically using it as a iPod. I figured it only charged it when the car is on but now I am not sure. Anyone else ever get this error? My car is a 2011, maybe time for a new battery? Any I put is appreciated!

I have a -12, I get this when the car has sat for 4 weeks while I've been at work. A short drive later and it's gone and does not appear during normal use in the 4 weeks I'm home.

still under warranty? Take it in for a new battery.

It is under the extended warranty...I unplugged the iPhone last night and the message went away (for now). I will check with the dealer to see what they say...

I have had this his happen a few times this month. Only on days of extreme cold. Get a warning of "Charge Baterry" and then when I turn the vehicle off I get the other warning. Had it in to the dealer. Twice . First time they did a battery software upgrade Was told the battery tested fine. They said this was a BMW issue! They have seen in especially in 5 and 7 series. I said I wanted the battery replaced as my warranty expires in 11 months. Said they couldn't because the battery specs tested ok! Not impressed!

I don't get the charge battery warning and I haven't gotten the battery discharging since I removed the iPhone. It has been pretty cold here and everything has been all good. I also found out that I can't leave the iPhone in the car because it won't work when it is cold, I actually have to wait for the iPhone to warm up in order to use it.
