Question Question to 528i owners

Do you experience vibration/shudder under partial throttle at 1500-2000 rpms?

Trying to understand if that's normal behavior or something is wrong with my CPO 2012 528xi.

Thanks!

That doesn't happen to my 528i. I would take it to the dealer.

Thank you for feedback! I will take to the dealer and update the thread with results (in case someone else runs into similar issue).

Another thing I noticed is that the car vibrates on idle in gear, i.e. at traffic light with brake applied (A.S.S. disabled). Does your 528i have the same symptom?

Mine vibrates more than a 535i I drove, but less than my last 328i with the same N20 engine.

Mine vibrates a little at idle like you describe. Not to the point where I think anything is wrong though.

Thanks again. I was a bit surprised since it was higher than any of my previous 4-cyl cars (Subaru's opposite-4 engines), but I guess it is normal.

Will get the car checked out at dealer for the other issue.

If it vibrates at idle it could be many things...vacuum, plugs, timing, ect... take it to the dealer!

You should send that in. Get it checked out, might not be anything serious, but it's always good to be sure

My 550 did that for a while and it turned out to be a Fuel pump. I would have them check it out if you're still under warranty. That is a problem that could originate from the engine or the transmission. My previous 528 needed a transmission rebuild when it did that.

My friend's M3 did the same thing and nothing was wrong. The gas station he fueled up said 91 octane but it wasn't. Put in some octane booster and it drove normal.

Ouch - that's what makes me want to get it checked out.

I still have 7 months of factory warranty and 2 years of CPO warranty, so hopefully if it fails, it fails under warranty.
